Pet Winter Blues

Pet Winter Blues

Here in eastern Pennsylvania the winter has been more rain than snow so far. I have noticed that my pets look a little down. To help lift their spirits, I have been doing the following:

  • Hiding plastic Easter eggs with treats hidden inside. Cats like this too.
  • Our yard has become a little muddy due to all of the rain. We have been taking extra time during our walks. Paved surfaces eliminate the clean up from the "mud bowl".
  • Our dogs are attending a once a week play group conducted by a certified trainer at an indoor facility.
  • We have cleared out the furniture to give the dogs room to have their normal rough housing play inside the house.
  • Car rides are always a good choice. Stop by a pet friendly store to get a change of scenery.
  • We have been giving more time with their butcher bones.

These are just some of the things we have been doing to brighten their day. It also has been lifting my spirits as well. Mental health is as important for our four legged friends as it is for us.
